FAQ's

Question: What is the difference between your Heavy Duty Commercial, Prosumer, and Light Duty ranges?

Answer:

Broadly, it comes down to weight capacity and corrosion resistance.

If you’re looking for the best of the best and are concerned about corrosion, we’d recommend going for a Premium option from our Heavy Duty Commercial Range made with 304 Stainless Steel. If you are just wanting a light duty option and are on a budget, our Light Duty Range with thinner 202 Grade Stainless Steel offers our best priced options.

And if you are wanting something in the middle that presents excellent quality at an affordable price, our Prosumer Range has Economy 430 and Premium 304 Grade Stainless Steel options that can be used for home OR commercial use. Here are some more distinctions:

Heavy Duty Commercial Range: This is our highest quality range, built to be superior for wet areas, use near the sea, heavy or for the best of the best commercial applications. The Premium Heavy Duty options are completely Stainless Steel, while the Economy Heavy Duty options have a 304 Stainless steel Benchtop and Galvanised Steel Legs and Undershelf.

Prosumer Range: This range is ideal for professional home users, budget conscious commercial users, or anyone seeking excellentquality for the price. It ticks most boxes with its Economy and Premium stainless steel options.

Light Duty Range: This range is the most affordable, intended for light duty, dry use, or those who just need a budget-friendly table.

Question: What is the Economy/Premium Difference in your ranges?

Answer:

Within our Prosumer and Heavy Duty Commercial Range we have an Economy and a Premium variant, which assists our customers purchase more effectively according to their needs and budget. Both offer great, commercial quality tables, but there are some considerable differences that we will outline here.

Prosumer Range: The main difference in the Economy and Premium Variants within this range is that Economy uses Economy-grade 430 Stainless Steel, while Premium uses 304 Grade Stainless Steel. Both are the same thickness and look very similar side by side, the only way you can really tell the difference without scientific analysis is to hold a magnet to the steel - 430 will attract the magnet and true 304 will not attract the magnet (due to the metallic make up). 304 is more resistant to corrosion over time, which is better for wet or commercial food preparation areas.

Heavy Duty Commercial Range: There are a few differences here, but both options importantly feature the Premium 304 Food Grade Benchtop. There are some sub-variant products within the Heavy Duty Commercial Range that both have the Economy/Premium version, including flat benches, splashback benches and sink benchtops.

Premium is completely stainless steel on the legs and undershelf, making it most resistant to corrosion and best for wet areas like butchers or seafood shops, while Economy options have Galvanised Steel legs and undershelves which are still heavy duty, but less resistant to corrosion.

Our Premium Options also feature extra bracing - both in the form of additional U Channel Bracing and also via a 20mm XPF Board placed underneath the Stainless steel sheet making it extra sturdy and better suited for mallet or hammer use. This extra bracing gives higher weight capacities too, with our largest options (2400 x 700mm) being able to hold up to 480kg.

Matching Castor sets are available for both options - the Economy Castor sets are $80 for 4 and $120 for 6 (2.1m+ tables). These Economy castors raise the height of the table to around 995mm.

The Premium Castors are upgraded and come together separately as a Short Leg and Castor kit - the legs are shorter so the benchtop height stays at 900mm and can match your other benches/ovens etc. This set is $250 for 4 and $350 for 6 legged Benches (2.1m+).

The last consideration is that the Economy units match Economy and Premium matches Premium units (e.g the Economy splashbacks are 100mm and Premium splashbacks are 150mm).

Essentially both units are great quality options, but the Premium is the best for corrosive use and most sturdy (if you are looking for that!).

Question: What grade of stainless steel do you use?

Answer:

Light Duty Range: Our Light Duty Range uses 0.8mm thick 202 grade stainless steel, unless otherwise noted.

Prosumer Range : Our Economy Prosumer benches use 1.2mm thick commercial 430 grade stainless steel, while our Premium Prosumer benches use 1.2mm thick 304 Food Grade Stainless Steel.

Heavy Duty Commercial Range : Both Economy and Premium options use 1.2mm thick 304 Food Grade Stainless Steel on the benchtop.

Question: What type of steel are on the legs and undershelves of your stainless steel benches?

Answer:

Our Light Duty Range of Tables typically have 202 Grade Stainless Steel Legs, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Our Prosumer Range of Tables have Galvanised Steel Legs and Undershelf.

Our Economy Heavy Duty Commercial Range of Tables have Galvanised Steel Legs and Undershelf.

Our Premium Heavy Duty Commercial Range of Tables have thickened 202 Stainless Steel Legs.

Question: How do I properly clean and maintain my Stainless Steel Benchtop?

Answer:

The simplest way to clean your Stainless Steel Benchtop is to wipe it down using a soft cloth or microfibre towel with warm water and a mild dish detergent after each use. Dry after cleaning and avoid any cleaners with ammonia or chloride bases which are corrosive to all stainless steels. Some other tips for cleaning and maintenance include:

Always clean with the grain to reduce fine scratching.

Rinse and dry thoroughly to avoid tea staining.

For fingerprints, use a food-safe stainless cleaner or diluted vinegar, then dry.

For stubborn marks, use a paste of bicarb soda and water, then rinse and dry.

If your table has any tea staining or spotting marks, you can remove these marks with a lightly abrasive scourer/dishwand and a product like CLR. Keep in mind that these develop when a table is left dirty or with other corrosive matter left on it

Avoid bleach, abrasive pads, harsh chlorides, and steel wool.

3M Make a Stainless Steel Polish Product which helps with maintaining and renewing the look for your table.

Question: Can my stainless steel bench be left outside?

Answer:

All our tables can be left outside, but for optimal long term use, this depends entirely on the range and location:

Heavy Duty Range: Our Premium option from the Heavy Duty Commercial Range is the superior choice for wet areas or use near the sea (where corrosion risk is higher). If the table is for use outdoors but undercover and away from the elements, the Economy option is also a very suitable choice with galvanised steel legs and undershelf.

Prosumer Range: If you envisage that the table will be left outside in a wet area, the Premium option is best with its 304 grade stainless steel. If you are on a budget and are happy to clean off the table rain or debris falls on the table, economy and also be a suitable option for long use.

Light Duty Range: We recommend only using this range for dry use, but similar to the economy options from the Prosumer range, this can also be used outdoors if you are willing to care a little more for the unit.
