Ideal Use Case: The All-Round Workhorse
What is the Prosumer stainless steel table best for? Think serious home chefs or pizza oven owners, small pop-up cafes running moderate service, school canteen prep areas or artisan bakeries with moderate volume. It's the perfect choice for anyone on a budget who needs commercial-level durability and hygiene compliance, but doesn't run a 24/7 industrial production line.
Why Upgrade from the Light Duty Economy?
The main reason to step up is reliability and longevity, plus the price is not that much more especially if you’re just going with the standard Bullet Feet option. The Prosumer range has increased moisture resistance (thanks to the thickened 430 and 304 steel) and the structural integrity to handle constant, moderate to heavy daily use. It’s the great all-rounder that won't let you down. This is the best choice for this quality tier because we guarantee you’re getting genuine, reliable specifications, not just fancy marketing names.
Heavy Duty Commercial Range: Built for the Big Smoke
Alright, now we're talking about the best quality products in our lineup: the Heavy Duty Commercial Range. If you are looking for permanent, long term installation, are located near the sea and/or are otherwise concerned about corrosion, or if your bench is going to cop a hammering day in, day out, this is the best choice. We are the best in the market because we provide this uncompromising level of commercial-grade toughness and support to ensure you get the best table for your usage, the first time. Within the Heavy Duty Commercial Range we also have a Premium and Economy option, but the difference goes deeper than the benchtops like on the Prosumer range. Read on to see which version is best for you!
Heavy Duty Commercial Range Economy vs Premium Difference
There are a few differences here, but both options importantly feature the Premium 304 Food Grade Benchtop. There are some sub-variant products within the Heavy Duty Commercial Range that both have the Economy/Premium version, including flat benches, splashback benches and sink benchtops.
Premium is completely stainless steel on the legs and undershelf, making it the most resistant to corrosion and best for wet areas like butchers or seafood shops, while Economy options have Galvanised Steel legs and undershelves which are still heavy duty, but less resistant to corrosion.
Our Premium Options also feature extra bracing - both in the form of additional U Channel Bracing and also via a 20mm XPF Board placed underneath the Stainless steel sheet making it extra sturdy and better suited for mallet or hammer use. This extra bracing gives higher weight capacities too, with our largest options (2400 x 700mm) being able to hold up to 480kg.
Matching Castor sets are available for both options - the Economy Castor sets are $80 for 4 and $120 for 6 (2.1m+ tables). These Economy castors raise the height of the table to around 995mm.
The Premium Castors are upgraded and come together separately as a Short Leg and Castor kit - the legs are shorter so the benchtop height stays at 900mm and can match your other benches/ovens etc. This set is $250 for 4 and $350 for 6 legged Benches (2.1m+).
The last consideration is that the Economy units match Economy and Premium matches Premium units (e.g the Economy splashbacks are 100mm and Premium splashbacks are 150mm in case you wanted to order a separate Splashback Bench to match your sink benchtop).
Essentially both units are great quality options, but the Premium is the best for corrosive use and most sturdy (if you are looking for that!).

Defining the Build: Pure Industrial Standard
This range of benches are built like tanks. We're talking top-tier, reinforced construction featuring fully 304-grade stainless steel, the gold standard for commercial food preparation. Each unit features robust reinforcement under the benchtop and throughout the frame. This results in the highest load rating available, meeting genuine industrial standard expectations. There is no compromise on materials or stability here. We have a large range of sizes in our Heavy Duty equipment range, from 300 x 700mm up to 2400 x 700mm, giving you the choice to pick something that maximises your space while getting premium quality at much cheaper than custom fabricated cost that you might be used to seeing.
Ideal Use Case: The Non-Negotiable Professional
This range is specifically defined for the toughest, most demanding environments. It's absolutely best for high-volume restaurants, food production facilities, commercial bakeries, medical labs, or any business that requires a permanent commercial installation. If failure or wobble is simply not an option, this is your bench - our Premium options can come with Bolt down feet to give you maximum sturdiness.
Why Knowing Your Steel Matters
As a stainless steel benchtops business owner, I know that wading through product descriptions can be a bit confusing.
Everyone claims their gear is 'commercial quality', but the truth is, a light-duty bench isn't the same as a Heavy Duty Commercial workhorse (and the price can be quite different too!). We have recognised that our variety of customers have a variety of uses and budgets, so we offer 3 ranges to suit everyone's needs.
TL:DR: The Prosumer range contains our best bang for buck tables and equipment - good for most home and commercial uses, if you’re looking for quality stainless steel at a great price, this is it.
The Core Problem: Buying the Wrong Bench Can Be Costly
The biggest mistake I see customers make is either over-buying, spending a lot on a bench that's overkill for the spare room or, worse, under-buying. If you put a lightweight bench into a frantic kitchen, it'll buckle, wobble, and leave you tearing your hair out. That kind of frustration is costly, and it’s why choosing the right grade of stainless steel table is critical for reliability and value.
This Guide's Promise: We'll Find Your Perfect Fit
You don't just need a stainless steel table; you need the right one. We're the best choice in the market because we’re the experts, and we’re here to give you the honest lowdown. We'll break down our three core ranges, Light Duty Economy, Prosumer, and Heavy Duty Commercial range to ensure you confidently select the perfect bench that’s absolutely fit for your application, whether you’re a home chef or running a top restaurant.
Light Duty Range: Versatility Meets Budget
Right then, let’s start with the Light Duty Economy range. This is our entry-level, but don't for a second think that means 'cheap and nasty'. It's a fantastic kit when used correctly, and often the can be the right fit for the home or a low-traffic area.
Defining the Build
The Light Duty Economy range is built to be versatile and budget-friendly. You'll typically find they use lighter gauge steel, usually 202 grade, which is still hygienic and corrosion-resistant, perfectly fine for general use. Because of the thinner stainless steel, you might dent it slightly easier than our other two ranges if you use alot of force with the table. Our Light Duty Tables with Bullet Feet typically can hold up to around 100kg, while Light Duty tables with castors can hold up to around 80kg. The tables come flatpacked and are designed for quick assembly, making them dead easy to put together in the spare room or the shed. While they're sturdy, they rely on a lighter structure than our other ranges.
Ideal Use Case: The Perfect Home Bench
So, who is this stainless steel table spot on for? It’s ideal for temporary use in residential kitchens, home laundries, garages, and light packing areas. If you're a weekend warrior who needs a bench for occasional use, or a dedicated area for hobby work, this is the reliable, cost-effective bench you want. It offers professional hygiene without the Heavy Duty price tag.
What It Can't Do (A Friendly Warning)
As a business owner, here’s the fair dinkum truth: this bench isn't built for constant, relentless commercial pressure. It is not suited for commercial food preparation and won't cope (for long) with wet/outdoors environments, the constant bash and crash of a full-on restaurant service,, or storing heavy weight. If your application involves high-volume production or intense commercial pressure, keep scrolling, because we are the best choice and have better, tougher options waiting for you.
Prosumer Range: The Perfect Sweet Spot
Now we're moving up to the Prosumer range, and this is where things get seriously good. I often call this the 'sweet spot' because it gives you nearly all the benefits of a full commercial bench without the top-tier investment. Witihin this range we also have an economy and premium option that gives you control over price and quality required for your specific usage or budget.
Defining the Build: A Proper Upgrade
This range represents a genuine upgrade in quality and build. You'll see that this equipment uses thicker 1.2mm 430 grade or a superior 304 grade stainless steel for the benchtop, which offers far better corrosion resistance, especially in humid or damp spots. The economy 430 stainless steel is also great quality and better suited for home or dry commercial area use. The frame, legs and undershelf are made with thicker galvanised steel, stability is reinforced with more bracing, and it’s built to handle moderate daily punishment. It’s a solid piece of kit with weight capacities of 200kg (150kg on the benchtop and 50kg on the undershelf), leagues ahead of anything in our Light Duty range.

Defining the Stainless Steel Benchtops Ranges: Light Duty, Prosumer and Heavy Duty Commercial
The Commercial Advantage: Compliance and Investment
Choosing this range isn't just about strength; it's about smart business. These benches meet all stringent compliance and hygiene requirements needed for commercial food licensing. Beyond that, the Heavy Duty Commercial bench is a true long-term investment. It retains its structural integrity and aesthetic quality longer than any other range, meaning less replacement cost and more value over the life of your business. We ensure this is the best choice you can make for your professional future.

The Technical Talk: Grade and Gauge Explained
Let’s get into the guts of it. I'm going to break down stainless steel grade and gauge into plain English so you know exactly why the Heavy Duty range costs more and why it’s worth every cent. This is what truly separates the best choice from the rest.
The 202 vs 430 vs. 304 Difference
When you see a stainless steel benches grade described as a number like 202, 430 or 304, that number tells you what it’s made of and correspondingly what it can handle comfortably.
430 Grade: This is the standard, reliable stainless steel found in our Light Duty and some Prosumer items. It contains Chromium, making it resistant to rust and heat, which is perfect for dry areas and general domestic use. However, it doesn't handle high moisture or acidic food (like citrus or vinegar) well over the long term. If you put it in a wet, salty environment, it might start to show some signs of staining down the track.
304 Grade (The Champion): This is the gold standard, used throughout our Heavy Duty Commercial range. Why? Because it contains Nickel, turning it into Chromium-Nickel steel. That Nickel content makes it highly resistant to corrosion, rust, and chemical damage. For commercial kitchens, wash-up areas, outdoor patios, or anything near constant moisture, 304 Grade is non-negotiable. It lasts longer, stays pristine, and is the reason our top-tier benches are the best choice for professionals.
Gauge Made Easy: Thickness is Toughness
The term 'gauge' refers to the thickness of the steel sheet used to make the benchtop. This is dead easy: the lower the number, the thicker the steel.
Thin 22 Gauge / 0.8mm : Found in the Light Duty Economy range. It keeps the cost and weight down, which is great for versatility, but it's more susceptible to dents or buckling under heavy impact.
Thick 18 Gauge / 0.8mm): Found in our Prosumer andHeavy Duty Commercial range. Thicker steel means maximum rigidity, better sound dampening (less clang!), and superior resistance to heavy loads and impacts. If you’re leaning on it, chopping food constantly, or resting heavy mixers on it, you want the thickest steel possible.
If you want something with extra bracing, our Heavy Duty Premium models have an extra 20mm XPF Board underneath the stainless sheet to make it even more sturdy for tough use.
We insist on defining these specs clearly so you can see why our benches are built tougher. We don't hide the facts; we give you the truth so you can make the best choice.
Accessories and Add-Ons: Matching Gear to Range
A bench is only as good as the gear you put on it. Wesee people waste resources every week by mismatching accessories. You wouldn't put a trailer hitch on a sports car, and you shouldn't put flimsy shelves on a Heavy Duty bench. It just doesn't make sense! We are the best choice because we help you match the add-ons to the job.
Best Fit for Light Duty: Keep it Versatile
If you've opted for a Light Duty Economy bench for your shed or pantry, your accessories should focus on increasing functionality without adding extreme load. Simple under-shelves are fantastic for storage, keeping light boxes, jars, or cleaning supplies off the floor. You might consider small, non-locking castor wheels just for easy movement when cleaning the area. The key here is versatility and value.

Must-Haves for Commercial Use: Built to Comply
When you commit to the Heavy Duty Commercial range, your accessories become non-negotiable tools for safety and compliance. These are the absolute must-haves for professionals:
Splashbacks: Essential for hygiene, protecting walls from splashes, and meeting health requirements, especially for a bench right up against a wall.
Locking Castor Wheels: Not just wheels, but high-load, locking castor wheels. They allow movement when cleaning but lock solid when prepping, ensuring zero wobble.
Sink Integration: In a commercial setting, you often need to integrate wash-up stations. Our range includes options for proper sink benches that are built into the robust frame.
Our Tip: Don't Skimp on the Extras
Here's our two cents: Always match the quality of the add-on to the quality of the bench. Putting a Light Duty Economy under-shelf on your Heavy Duty Commercial bench is asking for trouble, that shelf will fail long before the bench does. If you've invested in the best, then all your supporting gear should be the best too. It saves money and reputation in the long run. We make it easy for you to pick the right options because we are the best in the market for quality assurance across all ranges.
Making the Right Choice
We've walked through the ranges, the specs, and the sensible add-ons. Now it’s time to make the final call on your stainless steel table.
